Clouds with new cycles particle based point density function

Hi all,
The new point density node in cycles developed by the Gooseberry project might be another option to create cloud simulations. I have played around with this feature.
Clouds are create from particles that were emmitted from cloud shaped planes. The point density function was modulated by a noise function.
Here is a first result. Still looks like dust balls. Needs lots of fine-tuning.

The function was explained in blendernation:

Looking good! I really like where this is heading. keep going

This will lead to the most realistic clouds, IMHO! It looks really good.

This looks super promising. I’ve been playing around with it as well.

Curious, how did you add the noise to the pointy density? I’ve got this working when using object vertices but not a particle system.

Thanks in advance. Cheers!

This is perfect for testing! Many thanks, Meta!

Cheers, my friend!

What’s a cloud shaped plane? Is that in profile or as layers going upward? And was that just a quick beta idea or examining a longer term solution? This is really promising!

This looks very promising. A great look inti the finished product.
