Commander^3 now on Linux

Linux users can now join Commander Cube in his journey through the Cube Tube, in search of the Perfect Cube to solve the mystery of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Be warned, this game is intentionally confusing and difficult. I made this game and I’ve only beaten the final boss once.

Download here, just untar and run. http://www.mediafire.com/?b4njm9833kopcb2

Requires GLSL

You should totally put up a video? Debut screen recorder has a free version. I love the quotes.

You have a lot of geometry in this game. It literally took minutes to load up on my machine (Linux Mint 13, quad core 2.4, 4 GB RAM, 512 MB DDR2 VRAM with proprietary drivers). That said, I agree with the friend who made the comment about taking acid. The beginning part of the “hub” section, I had no idea there was ground underneath me, until I finally looked down. The colors were cool, though.

Uh… gtk-recordmydesktop has a free version (it is free software). It’s available in the repositories, or you can just apt-get install it. You should try Linux sometime, cam.dudes. It’s fun!

haha, thanks. I grabbed gtk, and will probably record a play-thru of some of my favorite sections sometime soon. I’m entrenched in a few other projects. Ubuntu 12.04 is my native OS.

Here is an old video of the game. One of the greatest tragedies of this game is how seriously f**k’d and lame this level became when I switched the mouselook script in the middle of development. I was originally using Riyuzakisan’s, but didn’t want to use it without their knowledge. Every other first-person level works fine, but this one just felt… wrong.

Sorry about the slow load. I didn’t realize how screwy an unoptimized this game was until I tried playing it on other people’s machines.

I’m currently working on two RPGs as well, both of which are a lot more “clean” than this game.

“Fall of Eternity” is a now somewhat-infamous project in which you start at level 99 and end at level 0. I switched the campaign to Indiegogo, and you can read up on it in the WIP Games section.

“Dungeon Tweak” is a randomly generated dungeon hack meant to be beaten in under an hour and re-played. The entire game happens in one blender scene. Practically everything in the game will be randomly generated, including your character. I am specifically tailoring it to run on nearly any computer, with seriously low poly counts and no need for GLSL.

oh hey, here’s the .blend file. If the game is too strange or difficult, just load up a level and play. The game features lots of different gameplay types as you progress through the “story”… There’s also scene called “CubeCraft”, which is inaccessible from the .exe. It’s an unfinished parody of Minecraft.

I also wanted to mention that I’m ordering a Raspberry Pi, which I’ll be using it as a test device for Dungeon Tweak.

this looks pretty cool im downloading it now
