Hi friends.
I know some of You know what this is but for those who do not know…
The datassette is Commodore’s name for a modified cassette tape recorder for use as a data medium. It connected via the Cassette Port designed for use with the VIC-20, C64 and PET and CBM models.
In short, it was kinda the other half to your gaming pc of the time, sure, some strange guys used such pcs for other things too…
100% blender as always. I hope You like it.
Wow , Fantastic!, I lost mine many many years ago when some one borrowed it from Me and never returned it .
In fact I don´t know but I guess many of Us commodore veterans started with a datassette more than a Disk drive, It would be very interesting to know…
Thanks Mali for chiming in!.
That is the reason the Datassette was not included at first in the other post, I consider it very, very important , not that the monitor was not as important, but You could do it with a tv set no problem, so the datassette deserves its own post.
Thanks for chiming in friend!
It has the mini din like connector, I remember some guys used an adapater to connect that to a commodore 64, I haven´t seen one of those in person in years!
Thank You very much for posting it.
The most interesting thing is that when you connected the right pins on the plug to the power supply and the audio input—on a radio, for example—it simply worked like a tape recorder.
Hi there!, very interesting information, besides that I remember there was a software, I am not sure but I think it was called synthi or something that allowed to reproduce normal music tapes although with poor quality over the datassette, anyway someone told Me atari computers reproduce sound trough it´s tape device.
See You soon…
Fantastic model an renderings. I love every detail of it! Absolutely convincing. I can practically feel every detail of the shapes under my fingers . For me the datasette is the most beautifull device I ever had.
It reminds me of my early days with my C64 and diving into the new, mysterious world of computers.
