Computer...creative title, huh?

Small update: The power button and the holes where I’ll put slots for camera cards and a couple USB ports. You can’t really see the holes very well because I don’t have the grey contacts in yet, but they’re there. I actually had this done almost 24 hrs ago, but I didn’t get a chance to render it until now.

It took me quite a while to get the light on the power button right. I ended up using a clear plastic texture and putting a blue box and a blue light behind it. It worked pretty good.

Added a light to help see the front of the tower, extruded the card holes inward and added a temporary metal texture, and made the CD drives.

WOW, your project’s going greatly as well!

Either way, I was reading this post and I came to a solution for your problem regarding the keyboard. I’ve made a quick video tutorial showing how you can get smooth seams without using subsurf.

You can download the file here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jcnyzjzznyv

Hope it helps!

Oh, I forgot to tell you: it’s in h.264, so you’ll have to open it with Quicktime Player!

Sorry it took me a couple days to get back on here, but I couldn’t get on yesterday. I don’t have quicktime, and I didn’t feel like downloading it, but I googled center bevel and found an explanation on Blender’s wiki. Thanks! That should save me quite a few poly’s. I should probably look into some more of those scripts…

Today I spent a lot of time trying to alter one part to fit another in around a third and a bunch of other junk, and I just needed a break, so I started messing with the cloth and fluid filters, then I started on a website I’ll finish once I’m done with this project. Expect another day or three before the next update, everyone.

Well, I got real frustrated trying to finish the front of the tower, so I took a two day break, then started on the cord heads instead. To save a few polys I’m not going to model the very tip that gets plugged into the tower, because when they’re plugged in nobody will see them anyway. Oh, yeah, and I adjusted the cord material to give them a little bit of shine. Otherwise they look like they have no depth.

Looking good man! Can’t wait to see this finished!!

Thanks, Dudebot13. Speaking of finishing it, I’m probably going to have to make a better scene than just a corner… What’s a computer doing on the floor anyway…?

Haha yup, I think a desk would look a little better :stuck_out_tongue: Can’t wait to see it!

Well, the desk’s coming up soon, but I might as well finish the cords first. And I’m almost done.

Looking excellent!!!

Just one crit., you should smooth these parts:

Otherwise it’s looking great.

Keep it up!!!

very nice! 5 thu… wait, I don’t have them, 2 thumbs up!

TY for that, techwielder. The problem was actually edge crease in the wrong spots. Setsmooth would fix it, but it also messes up the material for some reason, and I’m not sure how to fix it.

And thanks for the post mercury.

I tweaked the cords a bit, and I’m starting to make the ports in the back of the tower and plug the cords in. Expect a screen soon…

Oh you might want to try the edge split modifier. Just adjust the angle so that the areas that you want get smoothed without causing any discoloration. Looking good by the way!

Thanks, dudebot, but I just removed the edge crease where it wasn’t supposed to be, and it’s smooth now. I plugged most of the cords into a temporary object (which doesn’t look that great, I know, but it’s just temporary until I model the rear of the tower.)

Next update: plug in the last cord, and either start modelling the rear of the tower, or start finishing the front. I’m almost done!!! Well…relatively…

Heeeeyyyyyy GREAT JOB

Excellent job there!
