Hello everyone.
I am debating upgrading my computer graphics card. Other than that, I have a very good system, 6GB ram, Quad core processor, etc. However, my graphics card is the one that came with my system, and is not designed to raytrace, etc, well… Thanks in advance… Tops I would want to spend would probably be around $400US…
I have an ATI Radeon HD 4200 right now.
Its less about what the card is designed for and more about what the program you are using supports(Nvidia or Ati) for GPU acceleration. Do you want Cycles, Luxrender, Octane or a different one. Then find out what you need (Nvidia or Ati). If you are just wanting the best power per dollar ration for gaming that’s different. I would check out tomshardware"Best Graphics Cards For the Money" articles. Last one was May, Junes should come out soon.

I don’t know how to use Luxrender right now, but might want to in the future. I currently use Blender’s internal, and am learning Cycles. Other than that, I doubt I will really be using any others…
