Cosmic Chess


A project I’ve been working on for the past week. This blend here is meant to serve as the basics for some chess themed animations I’m considering making.

All the objects here weren’t made form scratch per se. I used tutorials for the pieces, however I did try to make them a little original using the shaders as well as the rounded diamond shaped I attempted for the round pieces.

The tutorial for the Knight piece is the only one that is from a different source then the rest, which came from YouTuber Ian McGlasham’s subdivision modeling series (Board, Queen, King, Rook, Bishop, Pawn)

I consider this a finished project because it is specifically about the models themselves. If I do get into animating them, chances are I will try to kill in the background around it, maybe add a floor, consider this post about the models rather than the scene itself if you want. Also I had made a specialized crystal shader for this purpose, along with 4 gradients. Any questions?
