Cosmo Atlas

This is a 3D rendition of an artwork made by one of my friends, for one of his commissions. Since the style was isometric, it was easy to imagine what it would look like in 3D, and I decided to use the trusty Grease Pencil to bring the scene to life.

Apart from the very obvious Line Art modifier, the scene mixes hand-drawn 2D elements (the characters, the reflection on the CD) and 3D elements (everything else, including the palm trees). The rotation makes the 2D characters a bit jarring but I don’t hate this effect. Three things are animated: the hammock on top (swinging back and forth), the reflection on the CD (giggling with some noise effect), and the bottom character (simple grease pencil animation with the leg moving). It was very fun to work on this piece.
