Covert Hair Particles to Quad/Triangle Mesh and/or Texture?

I’ve been working on this coat for sometime, I was experimenting with the hair particles to see if I could make the cuffs and the neckwarmer actually look fuzzy.

I’m looking for a way to convert hair particles into a quad/tri based mesh or a texture that can be applied to a mesh. To allow it to be read by a game engine, since when I just tried to convert the particles to a mesh, since it wasn’t a triangle based mesh the game engine flat out ignored it.
