Yep, got Covid, started coughing a lot Sunday, tested positive Monday. So as I can’t go very far I am stuck in front of my computer working on a personal project for a change.
Room with a view. Yeah, I know, they aren’t even looking at the view but hey, kids will be kids…
The worst part is that view won’t be there for long.
Anyway, this is my first project with the Blender add-on that I got from Blender Market, Physical Celestial Objects. I have done plenty of test renders but this is the first actual proper image project. I need to change some of the settings because Saturn’s atmosphere has become too thin now. Lots more details to add, so expect it to change a fair bit.
Good work! Question: how many samples did you use on this render? Im wondering if you should increase that number to fix some of that pixelated look on the characters face.
Covid sucks. Ive had it twice, although both cases it wasnt much worse than a cold. Hope that you begin to feel better soon.
I will definitely use more samples or the denoiser on the finished work, but for test renders I rarely bother if I can see how things are going. I used 128 samples for this render as I wanted the render quickly. I can’t remember how long it took but it wasn’t very long.
Alexa (the younger girl) was leaning to her left, and Isla, the older one, to her right to look past Alexa’s head. I reversed them so we can now see Isla’s face.
I slightly altered the mesh of the tablet to prevent light leaking out of the back of the screen. This was lighting up the girls’ fingers in places where it shouldn’t have in the earlier version.
Changed from 4:3 proportions to 16:9 to allow more details of the room to be fitted in. This made it necessary to move the camera slightly.
Made some tweaks to the settings for Saturn and the sun position.
And looking at that I may reposition the camera yet again to allow us to once again see the reflected light from the tablet in the window. This was a nice detail in the first test render and the change of viewpoint I made when I went from 4:3 to 16:9 has taken that detail out.
And while repositioning the camera it might be a good idea to get rid of that empty space on the right. It just seems to be ruining the composition of the render.
OK I admit I haven’t done much today, I spent most of the day asleep as Covid makes me tired almost all the time. However I did start adding some clutter to the scene. I also got obsessive compulsive tweak disorder with setting the position of Saturn in the sky outside, so that’s why you can see slightly more of it now.
