Hi there,
I am trying to create a random pile of balls but don’t want them to intersect. I am finding my approach seems time-consuming and I feel my approach by eye too lacking in precision as I can’t really see where I am placing them.
Any tips on a better approach?

Make them spheric active rigid body objects and floor make passive rigid body object. Then let play timeline (or bake rather) and balls may behave like in real world including gravity. But there must be modeled some boundary for them otherwise they will rolls away…

Definitely use rigid bodies in the physics tab. See previous comment.
