Creating a spaceship for a presentation

Hello! I’m creating a spaceship where it will be damaged and float along space until it reaches a space station for repair, Im currently making a version where it had not yet been damaged and I want to know how does it look? Im going for a more scrappy/not-so-far-in-the-future spaceship because The story behind this ship is that this is a mercenary ship that does dirty work for money and on the side they haul cargo, the cargo part of the ship wasn’t part of its design but during the time, hauling was a way to get rich very quickly. Hence, the mercenary added a cargo space to carry gas. The reason why they carry gas or light material is that the ship was not made to carry heavy-duty items. However one day, a person came to the mercenary to deliver a special cargo (It the cargo on the top of the ship) they asked them to deliver it to another person, however, that cargo is highly sought after not to mention, the added load would make the ship sluggish to fly. (the reason why the mercenary took the job in the first place is because of the large sum of money that the person was offering) The handle on top of the cargo is there because the handle that is able to extend is expensive to produce, thus the person does not trust the mercenary to take proper care of it.

I have a few things that I’m not quite sure about my design that I want help with (though all type of feedback is also welcome!)

First, Does the headlight on the ship front look like a part of the design? if it is not, is it because of the design of the headlight or the fact that it does not look joined together?

Another thing is the rope that is tying together the cargo, do they look secure enough? or do they need to be made tighter or have more rope?

And lastly, would you consider the ship functional? If not, what can I do to improve that?

I would appreciate it if you guys took the time to offer some feedback!

I like the level of detail. It conveys well that this ship was modified or cobbled together. I think a lot of the ship’s story could also be shown through the texture, with colors / emblems, wear and maybe mismatching materials or patched areas.

Do you mean the thing under the ship in the second picture? It looks fine in design, though a bit weakly attached.

The main problem is that the ropes have curves in them, which suggests they are loose. If the ropes are properly tense, they will produce straight lines between contact points.

It looks functional as long as it’s not expected to fly in an atmosphere. If I saw that design fly in the sky, I would have a hard time believing it, as it looks like that would rip it apart.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I will take these feedback about texturing into account when Im at that stage!

Sorry! The thing under the ship was a mini-gun, not the headlight though I will make the arm of it thicker to give it a stronger sense of attachment. The headlight I was talking about was the one on front of the ship where the middle grill was (4 headlights that are square)

Lol fair enough, though now I came up with the perfect excuse as to why it crashed in the first place.

Again. Thank you for your feedback!
