I have an edge loop like the edge of a potato chip or pringles. I want to create a curved surface with the edge loop as a base. The loop can’t be distorted and I want to create a grid fill that curves in the third dimension. Think dome shape. The edge loop must remain fixed because it integrates into other parts.
I’ve tried creating a grid fil and proportionally moving the faces, but the move is circular and doesn’t create a smoothly curving surface since the edge loop is not strictly round. Attached desired dome shape and edge loop.
You may be lucky to extrude your curve upward and scale it with reference to a half sphere and then maybe even trying to shringwrap the sphere onto this mesh… (but then i can’t see much of a difference exept you skrinkwrap a icosphere or a rounded half cube…?)… You may also model or sculpt a half spheric object to match the outline of your curve…
Or… of course… geometry nodes… (actually there was something with skrinking… but with weights… so shrink the lower part to the curve and the upper part with lesser and a rounded curve to the top… ??)
