Creating Materials in Blender

Fairly new to blender, havent spent much time with it
learning it on my own

so far ive covered basics of modelling, and unwrapping UVs
having trouble texturing though.

i can create diffuse maps and bumpmaps but havind difficulty getting them to work with the materials and getting those materials to show up on model

lets see if i can post up some pictures

IN Mapping>> Coordinates = UV
Map >> UVMap

yeah, options already set
but still not working

perhaps i should look up a tutorial on using materials in blender

You do have to put the viewport into texture mode. Are the texture showing up in your test renders?

im not certain how to render stuff out
really all ive covered thus far is modelling, unwrapping UVs, and developing texture maps
figured after i learned how to do that stuff i could cover things like lighting and rendering
then i could actually produce something with blender that’s actually worth rendering y’know

but i’ve been working on my website lately so …
(been a while since i touched it, like maybe a couple of months:S)
and working full time too so …
with so many things you can do how do you determine your focus if your virtually equally interested in multiple different things?

I think its in textured mode … but its still wasnt showing up
I … wait … I remember something, remember seeing a post about a problem like this
they said they applied the material to a separate object and it worked
then they merged their model with the other object and the material properties kinda carried over

when i tried it like that It worked … sorta … now I have a new issue, its like all my UVs got scrambled
or the texture isnt orientated properly on the object or something :S

its strange, its like the the Material isnt following the unwrapped UVs at all, like the textures are being organized onto the model by completely different manner
