Hi, I really stuck I can get the cursor to return to the start point, its fixed somewhere way off screen and i can’t get it back, and cant add any meshs to my scene as they go to the cursor postition, I’ve tried the . key and view all, nothing is working.
And shouldn’t this problem be fixed, its way too easy to get the cursor lost.
i don’t think it’s a bug. I think you may be in Perspective view based on what you are describing. Choose View->Orthographic, or hit numpad 5. Then hit like Numpad 7 for top view. If you see the grid lines, you’re all good.
quite possibly; there are lots to push. Another possibility is that your camera is pointing off into space and taking pictures of the void. Or because there are no lights to light anything.
Still just getting a blank render screen, all lights are there camera is pointing at the scene the right layer is selected, will smashing my screen work?
Only joking, I am loosing hours now though and have no clue what is happening.
shift+c defaults the cursor to the initial position. Also in the 3d window’s header go to view -> view properties. here you see the exact coordinates of the 3d cursor.
will smashing my screen work?
Probably not, but posting your .blend file for us to take a look might
Here’s a .blend offered on another forum… http://imghost.warrenberberd.org/2008/01/18/Thumbs/3b27dd8a407ce84443a0237e958a21c2-M.blend
Notice how the plane is at nan… so is the 3D cursor.
It is possible to bring the plane at the origin but its median remains at nan. Set it at the origin and it reverts to nan as soon as one LMB in the 3D view…
The only solution is to get rid of the plane.
Shift+c returns cursor to starting point
c centers your active 3D View Window (the window with your mouse in it) on the cursor (very handy)… and it should fix your problem when you’re in perspective
as for your camera,
change one of your windows to camera view just to make sure your stuff is selected. Double check your lights and make sure they are on and lighting the surface facing the camera. Also check the light “Energy” and make sure it is over 0. If it still renders black, check your textures and make sure you didn’t make your textures transparent … if it still doesnt work, I’m out of ideas. I’d need to see the .blend
