Cycles rendering not showing a part or the whole scene

Hello

I was trying to render a scene I created on an i9 Mac using an M2 Max Mac. While I was at it, I noticed that when I opened the file on the M2 Mac, part of the wall showed up as a black box and when I rendered the scene using Cycles it was all just a black box in the render window as shown inside the red boxes in the image. I made sure all of the lights were set to visible in the Outliner and nothing occluded the light.

The black box in the preview disappears when I set the visiblity of the wall to hidden, but the box cannot be set to hidden and it seems like a glitch I could not find a solution for.

Please help me remove the black box and get the Cycles rendering working in the render view.

Thanks in advance.

Without seeing how your scene is set up, there is no way that anyone can do anything other than throw wild guesses at the solution to your dilemma.

The scene setup only includes one camera and a cubic room.

I could somehow render the scene without the black box on the intel-chip Mac. It’s apparently to do with the apple-silicon, but it’s still unclear how the latter is incapable of rendering the same scene.

Try opening the offending image on your other computer and see if it displays properly. It could be a graphics card issue. Update to latest graphics drivers?

I had forgot to mention the both of the Macs were running the latest macOS Ventura and there seemed to be nothing I could update.

I found a thread by a user reporting driver updates could fix an identical issue on their Windows machine, but I guess this workaround only works on Windows.

It may be the chip’s architecture, the bios or some Blender code that is incompatible with the other two.
Try appending the scene to a new blend file and see if it will render. This creates a new instance of the scene an often resolves bugs that crop up for unknown reasons.
Otherwise, try updating to the latest version of Blender to see if it resolves your issue.
