Cycles renders 32 samples only, settings don't matter

Hey there…

Since I’m “new” to vanilla Blender (I’ve been using E-Cycles since years, which unfortunately has been discontinued):
why does Cycles not care about my sample settings? I’ve disabled noise threshold, set min/max sample to same value, no difference. No matter what I set - it renders 32 samples! What am I missing here?

Hey,

Are you sure you had set up those settings here correctly?

Try to set options like these ones. Mine’s works fine:

I hadn’t set to experimental, tried again - screenshot attached!

Could it be that E-Cycles, which is still on my disk, but not “installed” (it just uses the regular blender preferences folder) is messing with this? I really don’t get it

Didn’t you, by mistake, set an override sample amount here?

I onöy used this ONCE in my life, recently, so I couuld put on some clay material. I thought this was disabled without any material in the slot.
Thank you, you may hereby virtually slap me :joy:

I really felt like I was lost in my own toilet. Something that seems impossible, but wasn’t. Thanks for opening the door
