I didn’t find any input in a Forum search but the question is kind of a simple one. Where the shadows at? The shadows in question come from an Omni casting shadows through a translucent material onto a surface with a typical Principled material.
Sorry, the screenshot Window > Save… isn’t at 100% ?
But the shadows not only lack the darkness in leaves close to the “window,” but the shading isn’t continued on the floor as it should be. Am I expecting too much? I’ll restart Blender and upload a better or different shot if requested!
I’ve taken a screenshot of the material settings and node of the ground material but I’m not sure what you’re referring to; what area to look in for adjusting how this material will handle shadows.
The translucent material is only the Translucent Shader producing the same problem with numerous shadow cast settings (Opaque, Alpha Clip, Hashed, etc.)
Could this be something to do with Indirect Light clamping? I had to cut out two trees to share a smaller file. It’s attached.
If you switch to Material Preview mode, you can see that you assigned Translucent and Grill materials on faces of the ground of your shadow box.
Light from world is preventing those faces to show shadows.
Just assign ground material to ground. And your room will be dark.
Such a rookie mistake! It’s nice to be back to Blender. Most of the time. Thank you for catching that; I saw the Material Preview strangeness but didn’t consider what I was really looking at.
While I’d still like some more AO in the leaf shadows near the ‘window,’ this will solve this thread’s problem. Cheers!
