Want to compare Cycles vs Cycles X on your machine?

Feel free to post your render times here (unless there is better thread…didn’t find one.

This is the best tutorial I’ve seen so far, though it’s not detailed.

I have Blender 3.0 Cycles X branch installed, but haven’t run the
benchmark yet…later today.

Any tips on settings would be appreciated. :wink:

Later….downloading the benchmark now…(659 mb) for Blender 2.92.
No option for Blender 3.0 Cycles X, but will try it.

More later… LOL! Got ahead of my skis…not the same BMW blend I’ve used years ago, but automatically launches 2.92, and runs the benchmark.
But not for 3.0 Cycles X. So not helpful.

Is there a BMW standalone blend we can use to compare 2.92 Cycles vs 3.0 Cycles X? Or another scene that everyone can use to compare render times?

Scroll down to Cycles section and you will find most of the scenes present in the benchmark.

Blender 2.92 = 12:08
Blender 3.0 CX = 11:35
(Win 10 ASUS GL752VW 16GB GTX960M)

The median time for GPU renders is 2:38 according to the DB.

Significant speed increase, but will not be using for animation,
at least on this VW “Beetle”. :grin:
