Dark Druid Character

This is a project that I’m very happy to share here. I was very surprised with my growth, in many aspects, while working on this character.

It took around 90 hours to complete it. I first sculpted a high poly mesh and retopologized it in Blender. Then i textured it in Substance Painter, mixing hand painted style with PBR maps.

It is based on the concept arts made by Agustin Marceillac.

Around 90 hours!? Is that what it really takes to make a character and render this polished?

To be honest, it is not. I just took my time to study, experiment and discover how to solve the problems I get into when modeling a complex character like this one. Not really worried about speed. I think that with more experience, something like this could be done in a week, maybe less if the modeler is really fast!

Good to know, but I imagine most beginner and intermediate 3D artists need to make peace with the fact that their early attempts will take that long or even longer before they become more efficient.
