Dark shading around Edges?

For some reason that I can’t quite understand, I’m getting dark areas around one area of the handle on a coffee mug I made. It only appears when I set smooth, but it is rather ugly and something I’d prefer not to have to deal with


That area was created by creating faces from the adjacent vertices, if that makes any difference.

Any ideas are appreciated :slight_smile:

check your normals-direction, then flip those pointing inside. or try ctrl-n (recalculate outside).

Done and done, problem fixed.
