When I click on Gallery images at the top of the site, it always defaults to the latest post, instead of starting at the top where the artwork in question is.
It seems like a good idea to default to the top post/post #1/the OP post so people can see the artwork first.
When I click any of the featured images at the top, i see the first post of the thread - if it’s the first time I’m looking at the thread. From then on, it defaults to the next unread post in the thread.
(Which is how the rest of the site works.)
Same behaviour here… first unread entry first… using Vivaldi and Firefox on Linux.
Maybe it’s some setting on my profile. I haven’t changed anything on it though. That’s odd.
Have you visited those posts before? Discourse remembers your ‘last read position’. That said, it would be nice if it would always link to the first post from the gallery link as I agree that’s the expected behavior here. I’ll see if that’s possible.
Hello! This still happens in 2026 even if it’s the first time one visits the post. It would be logical to default to the first post with the original poster images. When one clicks on a gallery picture, it’s usually to see the actual image(es), not to read the comments from other people about them.
I hope there something you guys can do about it. Of course it’s not really important or anything, but it would but a great QoL improvement.
