Deleting thousands of parent objects is extremely slow. So here is an 450 times faster add-on

I tried pointing out this issue two years ago, hoping it would get addressed in a core Blender update, but unfortunately nothing changed. Since the problem stayed unresolved, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and fix it myself. Deleting large numbers of objects in Blender can still be surprisingly slow—when working with scenes containing thousands of items, the deletion process can take ages, sometimes leaving Blender unresponsive for minutes or even hours.

In fact, I’ve often found it faster to hide the objects I want to remove, copy the rest of the scene, and paste it into a new project rather than delete them directly. That kind of workaround is deeply frustrating—especially on a high-end system equipped with an RTX 4090.

I truly believe Blender’s object deletion process could use a major performance boost. Deleting large numbers of objects should be a straightforward operation, and I hope this kind of optimization eventually becomes part of Blender’s default functionality instead of requiring a separate add-on.

Since I couldn’t find a proper solution, I built Delete+, an add-on designed to clear massive amounts of objects significantly faster than Blender’s default deletion process.

You can check it out with more detail here:

I hope it helps out other Blender users who have dealt with the same headache. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome!
