Denoise the during render or after render with denoise node?

I’m not sure whether I should be denoising using nodes or with Intel Openimagedenoise. Why should I use one way over the other? Won’t they produce similar results?

After gives you a faster render and the option to denoise specific areas if you wabted to use masking or even tweak the amount later.

Also openimage is the best looking and optix is fast but a bit…mushy?..

Yeah, I wonder if this will be clearer in the future. For now, check out this thread: Difference between denoise setting and denoise node.

Mushy is exactly how I would describe it.

I use compositing version. Much more quality, much more flexible, much more usable and saves time.
