Desert scene

Hello. This is pretty much my first serious scene where i have put hours of tweaking and trying to reach
the right color balance and lighting.

So i want to know if there is something that breaks the harmony in this image and if there is, how it
should be fixed.

I also want to especially know does my color experimentation work out well or does it make some huge
crime against esthetics.

Until then i will keep spinning on my chair waiting for comments :spin:

I love the sand and how it reflects the sun! But I think the scorpio should be a little more in the foreground so that it is a little more in the lower left (hitting one of the rule of thirds joiningpoints… I hope you understand what I mean!)

The sky looks a little empty! Even if there are no clouds there should be a slight gradient.

Well, I like the sand ripples and the dunes in the back, but sand isn’t that specular. See this picture for instance :

So turn down specularity/reflectivity by a lot

Also, some stones look alike. Maybe model some more…

the sky can use some gradient indeed and you might want to get rid of the purple look and go more to red/orange.

Yes turn down the spec. also I think the sky should have a sunset texture. It looks odd pure pink.

I know i shouldn’t be siding with my own work on this section but i just want to point out that i am going more for somewhat “cartoony” scene and went for more specular sand for its looks rather than trying to fit realistic sand. Also the scorpion is just another part of the scenery and is not supposed to be there as the meaning of this set.

I will continue with working on getting this image some good sky background, probably have to give my photographer friend a job

Also i will be working on more stones and detail objects and maybe even some animal skull.

I also will be adding some simple rig for the scorpion and position its legs better.

Thanks for your feedback!
