Destructive Extrude [BETA]

(Vilem Duha) #21

0,1 works  really great functionality!
Could the selection ‘after’ stay?

(masterxeon1001) #22

lol I was gonna say why L? It’d be nice in the extrude menu like push / pull.

just wanted say THIS IS SO SUPER COOL ADDON . its always what i wanted . sadly its not perfect becouse sometimes overlapping faces causes to dissapear mesh parts. but i think its blenders mesh program problem . THANKS

(Vilem Duha) #24

I just wanted to suggest another name for the tool - Boolean extrude, since that’s what it is

another thing, enable extruding along common normal for more faces…

(Darcvizer) #25

Thanks, I’m glad if the addon will be useful.
Unfortunately I can’t find information on how to make a thickening on one axis, and probably to bind the spins to use vectors, and for this I had no knowledge of.

(chombor) #26

Тут похожий аддон был такой же пушпул как в скечапе, попробуй найти автора и спросить, может он поможет

(jimpaw80) #27

I can’t get it to work properly. Am i doing something wrong? I am using the auto extrude command on my custom pie menu.

(Michael Knubben) #28

I’m getting the same result, Jimpaw80. If I only extrude inwards an extremely short distance it works fine, but anything beyond that and it just deletes the entire thing.
I’m on 2.78a, and if it matters: also launching the tool through a pie menu.

This sometimes happens for unknown reasons, this problem of the boolean modifier. I’ll add the flip normal option perhaps this will help solve the problem.

And tell me where you loop http://take.ms/pN5KHO it shouldn’t be?

(masterxeon1001) #31

i think it might be hotlining and booleans causing these issues. Its hard to do a boolean precisely against an edge.

(jimpaw80) #32

It has nothing to do with the normals, or what faces i select, the result is always the same. Even if i select faces in the middle the just gets deleted and leaving a hole.

(Vilem Duha) #33

There’s a hole in your example mesh. With such meshes, booleans don’t know what’s inside/outside. Just use this tool only on solid meshes, with no holes/edge splits.

(jimpaw80) #34

I understand it might look like that on my picture, but i started with a whole mesh, it makes no difference.

(Darcvizer) #35

In my tests this happens when the selected polygon is a hole.

Here is my test with exactly the same mesh http://take.ms/4iJkI

this can be if you have double vertex

Do you have Skype? If so Hit me up there and i can share my screen.

(obsurveyor) #37

Couldn’t you just post a blend to repro with? Seems like the most efficient way to get it solved.

(Darcvizer) #38

I do not understand what you wrote
