Rendered in Cycles on GPU, 262144 samples @ 8k. Denoised and glare added in compositor and then downsampled to 4k for upload.
The node tree is based on this amazing video by CG Vertex and uses the wavelength node as spectrum input.

Wow, this looks great!
How much time did it take to render?
8 days, but I throttled the GPU down to avoid turning my laptop into a space heater
What GPU do you have?
Did you use the CPU for rendering?
GPU is an old Laptop Nvidia RTX 3070 with 8GB vram.
Tried CPU but it was too noisy even with path guiding.
GPU path guiding would help but it seems to be stagnant at the moment. Show it some love here.
#92571 - Cycles: path guiding - blender - Blender Projects
8 Days is hardcore - nice result ![]()
Did you turn down the Filter Glossy to “0” for the Rendering? This would provide more caustics - but also more rendertime.
Would be really interessing to see this with a finished CPU/Path Guiding rendering
In 23 Days then or so ![]()
My most wanted feature (GPU Path Guiding).
Yes,

Ahh… that thing doesn’t work well with animation and tiles ![]()
I lost all interest in that feature
Really nice render OP!
