Dinosaurs TV Show Fan Revival

Here is my latest project. I plan to recreate several of the characters from the short lived TV show, Dinosaurs. I will accomplish this using Blender and Zbrush. Once I have enough of the characters done, I may make a short video/animation. Down the road maybe even a short episode. To start with though, I have a rough base sculpt of baby sinclair that I will now retopologize in Blender.

Looks really good, as soon as I saw him it reminded me of the show, great start.

I hope you can make the short episode, although that’s a lot of work!

Thx Phoenix. Retopology almost complete except for the tail. Once done, I will project all the detail onto this new mesh and sculpt the final Baby Sinclair.



Dang, I was a little kid when that show was on. The dinosaur characters looked like people in suits and it was somewhat cheesy, but I liked it due to my interests back then (which was dinosaurs).

Nice job on the retopo work, I await to see where it goes.

I finished retopology and will now move onto the final Zbrush sculpt. I will also give him some clothes.

I love it. Can’t wait to see them animated. Nice Marmoset render. I’m curious. Which render engine do you plan to use for the animation, if you do an animation?

Thx artorious, ya Not The Mama!!! Small update on Baby Sinclair. Back in Blender to make his shirt, diaper and nails. Nails will be sculpted and fitted to his fingers and toes back in Zbrush.

Thx. Don’t think I forgot about baby sinclair, just been busy. I made some clothing for him in blender that I am sculpting now.




Still working on the high poly. I’m thinking about building the kitchen where the baby sits.




Very fine. A nice detail sculpt pass. I love the AO render from Marmoset. Or is that a cavity render? Not sure about that. It looks a bit like dirty vertex colors would look like.

Thx JD. So I started to block out his chair and some toys/sippy cup in Blender. Used edge split modifier on the Lego toys. Hard to find references on the chair but I’m watching old clips :confused:




I’ve decided to go with the Sinclair’s Kitchen as a backdrop.Toying around in Blender, creating a remote control for the TV, blocking out some kitchen items: Table and Counter-top. I also made a low poly floor tile in Blender via array modifier, Zbrush and Xnormal.

I think my next priority is to finish detailing Baby Sinclair, make the low poly and bake maps. Right now I am using the high poly as a stand-in within Marmoset which is fine but obviously it is lagging up the scene being over 2 million polys so the low poly is needed. Also I want to Texture him.

Looking good so far. The chair was more rounded in the show as far as I saw. Do you plan to subsurf it? And I only found references where a blanket was thrown over the back of the chair.

Thx. Ya I only blocked out the chair. Haven’t even refined it yet or started sculpting it. I’ll do that after I finalize Baby Sinclair.
