Göbekli Tepe is an archaeological site in Turkey discovered in 1994. Its the oldest temple ever discovered and is around 12,000 years old. I think its a very interesting subject and I can’t remember it being modeled in 3D before. I was going to submit this for the recent “Long Forgotten” weekend competition, but I missed the deadline by a few hours so I thought I would take this idea further and try doing a WIP thread. Comments welcome although I already have some ideas on the direction I want to go. I think I’d like to make a scene where a man dressed in Turkish garb is walking towards the camera talking on a cell phone casually looking down towards the exposed statue in discovery. I know I need to work on the grass, texture mapping, possibly add some loose rocks, add a proper sky, then work on the figure and clothes. So there is a lot to do. The grass obviously doesn’t look that great right now. This is the first time I’ve done dupligroups using cycles and the randomness isn’t working well for me at this point. I made 8 different grass blades although I’m not convinced its using all of them as I specified.
