Displacement: trouble with "stairs"

Hi everyone!

I’d like to create abstract images with “stairs” on a sphere. It worked fine, the only thing that bothers me is that the displacement has a disturbance (should be flat with the displacement):

I could fix that by increasing the amount of the Subdivision-Surface-Modifier, which would cause a much longer render time, if Blender would not even crash… Do you have a solution?

Thank you :))

How did you make the sphere and the stairs? What’s your wireframe?

Hi, thank you for reading it. I created an UV sphere and used subdivision surface. The „stairs“ are created with a wave texture, that is plugged into the displacement node…

Put a color ramp after your wave texture set to constant

I also tried that, it didn’t help. I’m just a beginner, but I think that it’s problem is the detail with polygons. As the displacement scales them (for the outstanding part), the tiny details are scaled up and they’re not tiny anymore… Is it possible that this is the case? I’d like to create something similar to that: https://images.app.goo.gl/KYcYyuvdxHPCZ3mx7
would you do that with a different approach?
