allright, dowloaded blender…happy times…but now whenever I try to open it it gives me 5 seconds of false hope and shuts down again, giving me an error message that reads “the blender application has suddenly quit” any suggestions? BTW I’m on macOSX 10.2.8
there are dedicated x.2 and x.3 versions. get one for jaguar, or upgrade to panther (you’ll love it anyways). got to the testing builds forum on blender.org and look for a bf-blender for osx10.2.

What’s your computer ?
There was some reports of problems on low end machine with old non accelerated card, just above the limit.
This is currently under investigation.
In the meantime, you can try to set your monitor in 1000s of colors, it usually works
