This is not religious at all…
Maybe it was trained to?
There’s half a sausage hidden in the curtains off camera and he’s sniffing it out.
Either that or praying there’s half a sausage…
Still, a lucky snapshot.
maybe its just confused and does it every time it sees the kid doing it?
personally my dog is an athiest… or at least a very stubborn agnostic.
It is trained to do this, but there’s no wishes in its head I think.
I’ve often wondered if cats and dogs see us as deities. After all, when we’re around food magically appears in front of them every day, there’s a small pond that always has water in it even though it never rains inside, when we enter a room at night it’s often suddenly fully lit (not sure if they connect the switch to that or if they think we control the sun), and we can do things with our hands that must seem supernatural to them.
I wonder if my cat is actually worshiping me when she rubs up against my leg to get food to fall from the sky?
No, the position of the hands in the human and the dog are different. Clearly the dog is thinking differently: more like “I count to ten and then will eat all the food you have put in the plate”.
All the life you see, animals, plants, is WE. And WE are just ONE.
This was mentioned in our church once, I can tell you that this seems all too true at times considering the fact that we have both a cat and a dog.
I personally haven’t seen my dog in a praying position, but he does often sit next to my mother when she is reading her Bible, the cat meanwhile will come over as well and try to insert herself between the passages and her lap thinking that she should give her undivided attention to her instead.
I was kinda thinking of a theological comparison in relation to this. I won’t share though…yet.
I will explain what is happening in that situation:
Animals are telepathic. They feel what the owner feels.
When a woman prays it is usually not for say “Thanks, all is perfect in my life, all is sooo good!” But instead the pray is because some problem. The cat detects the worry because its telepathy and what the cat perceives is his/her owner in distress and deep worry of something. So the cat enters to calm the owner.
Another one: A woman is praying to “their ancestors” and the cat approachs him/her and touchs him/her. It is just one of their family “ancestors” saying: Hey, don’t worry, I am fine!
I have a feeling this thread is going to get locked…
On topic though, that is a really cute picture and is pretty cool that they were able to capture it!
Okay, to avoid a religious debate I’m just going to say that you might be reading a bit too much into normal animal behavior and their cognitive abilities like reading emotions.
That is all.
Animals don’t have to pray – they aren’t inherently evil, even when they are trained to do bad things. Therefore, what would they need to pray for?
My dog prays everyday for a huge juicy bone. Flinstones style
