Aaaah and it even has the old school flat 2d vibe. Nice!

My first contact with Donkey Kong was around 1995 on the GameBoy.

My fav DK game would be Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. Played that a lot back in the days.
And cmon isn’t this one of the greatest underwater ambient music of all time?

Always a nice flashback, thanks for sharing Metin! And also much love to Steve Lambe.

Thanks a lot Steffen! :+1:

My two sweetest memories of Donkey Kong are:

  1. The original arcade machine, which was everywhere in the early 1980s: movie theatre entrances, snackbars, arcades, etc… I liked to play it myself, but loved watching skilled other players even more, so I could also enjoy the scenery and sprites.

  1. I had two ‘Game & Watch’ LCD hand-helds in the early 1980s: Donkey Kong (in the orange case) and Donkey Kong II (in a brown case). I remember being so excited by those super-simple LCD games that I brought them everywhere: to my bedroom when I went to sleep, on vacation, I always carried it with me.

Oooh awesome! I have the same memories of the Game & Watch - check out my collection

Also, is that a Suzanne on his chest?

Wow, cool! I remember most of these. There was always a friend who had some other LCD hand-held.

Hahaha, you’re the second one who recognized Suzanne in his chest. My wife saw a skull in it.

Maybe we should set up a retro-game session

I recently did a retrogaming session with my former two game development partners. In the end, we couldn’t get the Commodore 64 emulator to run properly, and spent most of the time playing with the Oculus Quest 2.
