Donut icing texture

Can someone please assist me on how to achieve that strips like texture for icing on donut…?

I would use top view, paint the stripes with grease pencil, convert to curve, shrinkwrap (target normal project would do the best here), then bevel.

There is also the freehand curve drawing available as well as shown in this tutorial. Still available in 2.8x

You might get away with just sculpting a wee bit depending on how closely they’ll be seen.
