Just wanted to make a Do-217 for the sake of it. It was a German medium bomber used during WW2. I’m not planning on making it very detailed since I plan to use it in mid to background shots.
I really like it. You may want to inset the windows a hair to give the nose a less smooth look. I’ve noticed the more I model these aircraft is how many irregularities they actually have. I tend not to subdiv my models since it makes them look too smooth and makes it harder to get the panel built look.
Very nice! This is a lovely start.
Looks very good for the intended, “limited” use!
NRK is right about the canopy frames. You can easily obtain such an effect using a bump map texture. If you do not want to “dig into details” - you use the bump map+transparency map to mark edges of the control surfaces (ailerons, rudders, elevators) - they definitely were not smooth, especially the Frise ailerons.
