My very first 3D-printing project and also one of the first miniatures that I painted.
It was a gift to a good friend of mine who obtained a PhD earlier this year.
I had a lot of fun modelling and painting the miniature (and also giving the gift) . It is somehow very satisfying to hold your creation in your hands.
I modeled everything in Blender and then exported an .stl file which I could pretty much directly print.

To help me choose colors for painting I made a few renders. Since painting does not work the same way as picking materials in Blender, the result is a bit different than the plan, but I’m happy with the result.

Since you need an insane amount of faces for 3D-printing (apparently you can’t turn on smooth shading in the real world…) the topology is quite messy, but here are some wireframes:
