Maybe you’ll think I’m lazy again, but this is a high res texture of dune, that I think does an excellent painting.
I took the sand photo myself, looped it, and applied wave bump. (I’d prefer displacement though)
The resolution can be very high and the size might attain 1m60 x 1m60 (5,2feet)
It looks really nice. You’re right I think, in thinking that true displacement would be better than bump mapping. It starts to look a little flat toward the top of the image, but still really nice
