Duplicate screw hole

Hi.

I’m very new to blender and I know next to no CAD jargon so I hope pictures will do the 1k words thing.

I want to duplicate a scew hole

This is what I get when I duplicate and move the selection

I get the fact that the actual hole is not part of the selection and would need to do some kind of subtraction, but have no idea how.

Here are some more pics(can’t upload more than 1 image since i’m a new user):

Help! Please

Hi,

You can make a hole with Boolean modifer or with a so-called “Project Knife tool”. Both of these two methods works perfectly, depending on each situation and your own needs

How to make a hole using Boolean modifier:

Also some useful tricks:

How you did that just copying that circle wouldn’t work since circle and a hole - is a two different meshes and you cannot just copy that hole and move it somewhere in the other place.

Hope that helps

This is often a tricky fix or the results are not very good.

A simple way to solve the problem is likely to be solved by using the second and third video methods posted by @goorman.

For your information, it will be helpful if you understand the topology more when modeling.

Add…

  1. Select the edge and make a hole on the surface after extraction. (Blender Secrets - Knife Project Refer to the video)

  2. The vertex connection between the edge of the hole and the copied object.
