Working on an anvil scene based on the blenderguru tutorial but looking to do a fantasy scene.
Any advice on textures, what to do next would be great! I’m thinking of adding a fire out of view that reflects on the anvil and adding some weapons/props behind on the wall.
The anvil looks nice, now work on lighting and staging. Right now, as you see, there’s not much visual separation between the anvil and the backdrop. First of all, the anvil probably would never be at the edge of the room, because the smith needs easy access to it from all sides. Next, the lighting needs to be worked. It’s good that you have some gradient working from left to right, but we need shadows and spotlights. Perhaps a room, much larger, with a variety of textures. How about, for instance, rough stone timbers set into piers made from that wall-stone material. And might you want to raise the camera up a little? Give us a scene in which that anvil is a dramatic focus.
Thank you! That’s given me some great ideas
The anvil looks great! I’m new here, but I think your floor material needs some work; it looks like it doesn’t have a bump or normal map (or if it does, it’s too subtle), making it look really flat and fake. Composition-wise everything is roughly the same color. If you were to add in some other materials/colors (for example, dark wooden beams along the wall) I think the image would be more visually interesting.
EDIT: Oops just read sundialvc4’s reply. Most of what I said is redundant.
Hello. Love a bit of thread resurrection.
How did your anvil come along? I’m about to put out a free edventure on DrivethruRPG with a friend, and we wondered whether we could use the anvil? It’s perfect for a scene.
