Easterland: Plague of Zombies

Now that it is my summer vacation, I was hoping to work on my robot game. Unfortunately I have a problem with it, it freezes when I work with it on my new laptop. So now I have to start over.

Even though it was really depressing, I think this one is going to be better. The hero you play is a cyborg bunny, and he is better animated than my other dood. The game will use basic mats and some textures (mainly for environment objects).

I have been posting a video progress of my game in another forum, so I’ll show all the videos all at once.

Story:
Easterland was at peace because the habitants knew the great eggs of Easterland were safe and sound. However, a sudden attack of zombies have destroyed Easterland’s peace. They have stolen every eggs in the land! Even the so called, Great Eggs of Easterland! Now you must take the eggs back from the scourge of zombies and rid Easterland of these monsterous beings!

Gameplay:
You play as a cyborg bunny and collect as many eggs as you can. I had hoped to make it so that you collect a number of eggs to unlock another stage but I do not know how to make variable not change when scene changes, so basically all stages will be available to play. Each level, you will have to collect a certain number of eggs from zombies to unlock the stage’s boss. Here I had hoped you collect a medium egg to unlock the next stage. Then if you unlocked all stages of the level, you go to the next level and etc. Instead now, like I mentioned earlier, all stages will be unlocked, and to unlock the boss of the stage you have to collect a number of eggs. Each stage will have a larger number off eggs to collect than a previous one. For example, one stage has only 10 eggs for you to collect in order to fight the stage’s boss. The net will be 20 and etc.

I am currently gonna be working on zombies so I can release a demo. I can release one now, but all you can do is play with the camera modes and walk around like in the videos :-\

But if you still want me to release a blend file then just say so.

Game is being made with blender 2.49. I am not good with texturing and doing all that fancy material stuff, epecially in the game engine :stuck_out_tongue:

There is background music for the stage selector and eggdrop forest stage, sound effects (made by my own voice edited with Audacity). However I still need a sound for the boss, UnDead Trent. Will post a game play video soon showing me play the stage and defeating the boss if you do not feel like downloading the game.

Not much of an update, but here is one version of a zombie. It’s late, will add it to the scene and add some logic bricks to it. Tommorrow. Its summer vaca for me and I am getting excited to work on my new game :smiley:

Haha. When I read the title to this thread, I thought it was a connection between zombies and the resurrection of jesus on easter. lol Zombie jesus!
Cool work so far though.

If you climb ontop of an egg and walk off of it, you hover in the air. Other than that it looks really good.

Well, im using servo controls And i didnt want the bunny to slide when he stops moving so i set the movement damping to .97 so the bunny wouldnt slide. BUT I made movement damp to like .1 and he slides and he STILL hovers/falls slowly. I haven’t mastered the game engine yet. This is only my second game I am trying to make since the first can’t be worked on anymore :frowning:

Zombies can now attack and you can die. The next update will be the bunny killing them, and the stage’s boss! Then I can finally post a playable demo where you can kill something yeaa!!! So it’ll be a while.

I’m still having problems with the hovering, haven’t fixed that yet. I tried Cray’s solution but didn’t work. Worked with my zombies though, but i still had to raise the movement damp coz if you shove them they move like a puck on ice :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll fix that at the end XD

Aww… I can’t edit anything. I wanted to see if I could learn something from this :<
Phil, can you give me an editable blend file? I need to experiment with the laws of plagiari-- er, loading screens.

blend file can be edited even with auto run, just open up blender first, then load the game ;o I am uploading a copy now though, so if u still can’t open up the one i posted, then i’ll post it in here.

I know they still have that hover effect. The Cray’s soultion worked on the zombies and helped me limit their speed, but didnt work on the bunny. I will try and find a fix when I get this game close to finish.
