easy(hopefully) render question

Hi. I am new to blender. I have a simple scene with a flat surface and a texture applied to it, and one light source. when I render it, the texture doesn’t show up. Is something you have to do to tell it to use the texture in redering? The texture displays properly on the model in the 3D viewport. Any help will be appreciated.

is it a UV texture?

is it a UV texture?

Yes.

There are two ways to have the texture render. The simple (but not so useful) way is to hit the tex face button in your materials panel. That will make your UV texture appear in the render.

The second and best way. Is (after mapping the UV texture) pulling the image up as a regular texture and then mapping it to your UV coordinates. That way you can layer your mapping and use all kinds of cool effects and features…

thanks deathguppi. It took me a while to find the tex face button. First I had to click to create at new material before the tex face button even showed up.

regarding what you said:

The second and best way. Is (after mapping the UV texture) pulling the image up as a regular texture and then mapping it to your UV coordinates. That way you can layer your mapping and use all kinds of cool effects and features

Can you or anyone else recommend a good tutorial that explains how to do this and that explains how to use the different effects and features?
