Edinburgh Waverley Station with BR Class 40 Locomotives

I’ve been modeling Waverley Station which is the main station in Edinburgh. These renders show firstly the original colour and secondly an approximation of a faded photograph.

The station has an extensive and relatively regular glass roof. The location of this scene is almost directly below the North Bridge which spans the station roughly in the middle.

A bit of detail on making this image. I set the model of the station in a tile of the LiDAR data of the city of Edinburgh. The idea being that this would help lead to accurate shadows falling on the scene. I’ve not yet explored much of the potential of this and currently it is only the North Bridge (pictured in the lower quadrant of the scene below) that interacts with the rendered image.

Using the LiDAR data also help with ensuring the correct dimensions of the station.

Thanks Joe. I lived there for about 10 years and am from Fife, so this is very much home territory.
