Eevee GPU

Which gpu should do i need for eevee when using hdri sky environments.
Should I use GTX 1050 TI 4Gb or do I need GTX 1060 6Gb
Or maybe its better to choose Radeon RX 580 ARMOR 8G or RX 570.

I think GTX 1080TI is a good option. They are now cheaper and they are really powerful. The new RTXes are slightly more powerful, but you would be paying a lot more money for stuff that you are not going to be able to use as well. 1080TI seems to be a really good choice now. The large amount of memory is a very good thing for Cycles as well. Now that they are no longer the best thing in mining also means that you may find really good deals for used ones. All the miners have to put them somewhere. I would still not go for Radeons if you are going to be using it for Blender primarily. I know they sort of work now in most cases, but you may still have more trouble with them than with NVidia.

Yeah, go ahead and recommend the most expensive card, good job…

Thanks only the 1080Ti is above my budget. Its primarily for blender.
I am now still using the GTX 580 3GB MSI so its time to replace.
GTX 1060 TI 6gb is within my budget also AMD RX 580 8GB

2080TI with pricetag of $1200+ is most expensive now, excluding quadros and titans, of course.

Lets say the most expensive one that’s still affordable by mortals then.

I’m using the RX580 8GB and it’s working fine with Eevee, haven’t noticed slowdowns unless it’s a really heavy scene. GTX1060 should perform the same, maybe faster, but you’re going to have 2GB less memory for Cycles and large maps. My biased opinion is that memory is more important than FPS in the case with Blender. Also that Nvidia is an *** company.

Well, thanks. And how are you today? Any idea what you are talking about? OK then… They used to be at around 900 euros less than a year ago. Now with new RTX cards and mining buzz collapsing they are becoming affordable. You can get a used one for 450 euros. How about that? So can you do the math for me, please? How many times is 2080TI more expensive than 1080TI? What about Quadros? What about Radeon Pros? Memory is always a problem. 1080TI is a good option because of that.

Sorry GTX 1080 TI is to expensive I have to work hard as an artist for my money nowadays.
I am thinking to buy the RX 580 8gb its not for rendering. I want to save time when animating or making interior scenes and architecture.

Well, yes of course, that’s perfectly understandable. I have one recommendation that you might actually find usefull: wait till 2.8 is out. It is still in development and so there is nowhere to rush before you can use it in production. During those few months untill then, the prices of graphics cards might still change a bit.

Clément Foucault (main developer of Eevee) recommended the more vRAM the better.
Eevee uses OpenGL, so you could look for OpenGL benchmarks for games.
As long as AMD does not release buggy drivers, I think that the RX 580 will have a good performance.

What i’m talking about is that if you read antonvdh’s first post you’d understand he’s not looking to buy a 400+ euro enthusiast card. Sorry for not being up to date with the price of an even more expensive card that was announced just 2 months ago.

Well be up to date with the prices then before commenting on them. 1080TI is still one of the best solutions for rendering and it is getting to be half the price it used to be. The amount of memory might become an advantage for a freelancer as it opens up new possibilities like for example the use of particles - more realistic plants, carpets and so on if we are talking about archviz and it will handle EEVEE well. It is perfectly understandable if this does not seem like the perfect solution for antonvdh and he decides to go for another choice like the one you recommended that is not a bad choice either, but it is an option that might be worth considering. So yeah, good job with the sarcasm…

Wondering if there is a reference video rx 580 8g realtime rendering with eevee.
Most realtime eevee rendering youtube video are with the GTX 1080

Got some luck could buy a Radeon RX580 8GB from a friend for little so I did.

Radeon RX580 works perfect only a cycles render ‘loading render kernels’ is taking 1-2 minutes for coming up. But then its fast rendering. Also Eevee live rendering is no problem
Happy Blending

Registered to say thanks for posting an update about how it’s working for you. As a student, I don’t have much of a budget, but I got an offer for the same model card as in your picture for €110, and thanks to your post I felt comfortable getting it for some 3d courses in school this autumn.
