Egg yoke nodes set up?

tried with a PBR yellow but not realistic
added the extra glossy outside
but still not realist render

might need some refraction or volume may be !

anyone has seen a good nodes set up to get a realistic egg yoke - yellow?

i use an HDRI but have to change it there are too many wrong reflections which are not appropriate for an egg
might try some simpler light set up !

thanks

Perhaps show us what you are trying to achieve and what you have achieved so far.

Is the egg raw or cooked? Fried, boiled, poached? Separated from the white or still embedded in it? All of these things can have a dramatic effect on how the yolk looks.

here beginning of egg model

still working on all part = WIP

have to find some texture for the white part !

if you look on internet the yoke is not realist
so any tips appreciated

sorry just on note
tomorrow moving and might loose internet for one month

Fried egg?
You could try 2 things, some subsurface scattering with a darker more redish colour.

I also made a copy of the egg and scaled it up a bit and gave it a glass texture with a little diffuse over the white and masked it with a sphere gradient so it does not whiten the yolk. This gives an outer transparency a bit like what people do for eyes.

Egg.blend (715.7 KB)

I did not work on the white much (yet!)

edit your yolk looks too yellow and unhealthy! :slightly_smiling_face:

your file contains 2 egg model
i guess one should be removed !
but it is a good beginning

color of my yoke is too yellow but also function of light set up and intensity

One egg has the white and yolk material the other has a glossy transparent material (made with a glass shader and a diffuse shader. This is to simulate the uncooked transparent “slime” on the top of a fried egg.

here is example of yoke on net

egg yoke - Bing images

we can see near yoke bottom there is some sort of gradient effect
i think i can add some more edge loops and new mat for that part

Yes that was my idea with the second “transparent egg” it needs some more work but I think it is better to treat that “semi” transparent layer as a separate object (you could combine the 2 objects) I will do some more experiments to see if I can get it more realistic (maybe volume absorption).

Your reference is a raw egg do you want it raw or fried?

either would be good

the raw one might be more difficult to model

you mean the 2 egg models have to be where they are
to give some 3D effect ?

thanks

Yes,
This is my egg with the transparent egg (the 2 egg version)

And this is what it looks like if you delete the transparent one.

Edit note the difference in the transition from yolk to white.
