Electromag Nodes

I’m working on an asset set of nodes which allow for solving and simulating electromagnetics.
You will be able design inductors, coils and magnetics and visualise their magnetic fields and calculate their inductance. You will also be able study electrostatics, visualise electrics fields of objects, calculate potentials, surface charge density and capacitance.

These set of nodes will be useful especially for students to better understand electromagnetics, which can be a difficult topic to study and learn. It will also be useful for electrical engineers who design circuit boards, and components.

Below are some initial videos

interesting but also complicated
so many variables and if in 3D not certain it can be model easily !

are you selling the blend files or sharing them ?

thanks happy bl

This is incredible idea. I wish you great luck in this endeavor. I imagine several powerful uses for it.

What tools are people using currently to model this dynamics?

thanks! Electromagnetics is generally a complicated topic, and what I have done so far is a simplified set of solvers that are generally taught physics 101 and so I’ve tried to make as simple as possible to use. I’m planning to have a free version which will include most of the node groups and a pro version which will include demo files

thanks! Electromag Nodes at the moment is intended to be used visualisation and education purposes rather than a professional tools. There several open-source and commercial tools ( which cost thousands of dollars). My favourite free tools are FEMM, Elmer and FastFieldSovlers

are you planning to have one for Antenna ?

it is 3D and complicated but an interesting one too

thanks

no not anytime soon, for that I will have to solve all of Maxwell’s equations! Who knows, but it could be doable in Blender 4.0 because it will have the new Repeat node

may be there are some python addon to solve these Maxwell equations!
these are complicated and rely on boundaries conditions!

thanks

well I’ve been using an open source tool called openEMS to design antennas and make animations. It has a python interface. See this thread for some my work and also on Twitter @samerps

like the lunar module !

did not find a lot of things about NASA use of RF
is it encoded and all other parameters like BW Power level Freq ect.

NASA has some large dishes around the world to capture signals from space
then it has to be sent to some central place to be process

some of the fields you are showing are like vectors field and blender is not really good a showing vectors fields - lines with vectors arrow

thanks
