but let me whine a little bit.
¿why do I need a quit shortcut?
I only do it once, it’s not as common as extruding. Plus my OS gives me that shotcut, it’s alt+f4!, and sometimes I like to use that X and the window… or the menu … there are 3 ways to do it already
And why it’s almost exactly the same as the save shortcut?..why?..WHY!?
Download the source code and change it… that’s the only way … or bug the programmers
I agree having it right next to CTR-W is not a great design choice. ALT-Q would be much better, I use CTR-W all the time and now have to slowly double check I’m hitting that and not quit
FYI, whenever you quit Blender there is a “quit.blend” file written to the Temp path (set in User Preferences / File Paths.).
Vertex Pusher :
CTR-Q is not a whole lot better than “Q”, it’s almost worse as it’s right beside “W” for CTR-W (save) …
ATTENTION K-MART SHOPPERS … I have just just discovered that “CTR-S” ( actually does a save, though it’s not documented … it only works when NOT in EDIT mode (while CTR-W works in any mode) … I discovered it while thinking "why doesn’t Blender use “standard CTR-S” for save … then I tried it for fun and … wala ! )
Yeah and you should also set Blender to auto save from the user preferences menu every five minutes . These show up as “blend1” files in your save directory .
Mike_S :
Yeah I know but apparently it was a big deal when Harkeyman (sic?) convince Ton et al to do it so …
Apparently the developers only want to please serious professional CG production artists, and complaining about Q to quit is some sort of test whether you are one of those august personages or just another newby. Sorry, bobbin_cygna, but you didn’t pass. [PS, I didn’t either.]
