Is it possible to make an emitting object emit a light of a color?
I have searched high and low for an answer but everything seems very vague.

Yes, it is possible:
Set the object Emit value and:
- use yafray or other advanced renderer
or - use radiosity
or - use one of the builds with Shaded Ambient Occlusion (http://www.graphicall.org/builds/builds/showbuild.php?action=show&id=509)
Alternatively you can easily fake it by putting a lamp of the color you want near the emitting object
I am currently using Radiosity. The problem is it just emits a white light. I’m looking to emit a coloured light. It’s probably me missing something stupid but I could not get this to work at all.
Edit: Yup… just tried again and it worked fine. Oh well. Thanks for the help.
