Emmissive Materials and object shape how does that work

If i have a panel with an emmisive material and it is NOT flat how does that effect the light coming from it??

for example if i bend the front to a 45 degree angle (-Z) will that throw the light into the model??

I would have thought the emission would be in the direction of the surface normal (i.e. perpendicular to the face).

When you experimented with different face angles what effect did you see ?

have not tried out yet (takes a long time to do a render) but suggestions on setup would be good.
