Environment Texture (Equirectangular) Image Gets Distorted By Nodes

I’m trying to rotate an environment texture, and so I’ve watched a couple of tutorials that show using the node setup as you can see in my attached screenshots.

The cube looks normal until I connect the mapping to the image.

What am I doing wrong? Why does the image look correct on some of the faces, but distorted/stretched out towards one of the corners?

Cheers, Gary.

Use object cords, not generated.

On a cube you will still get some distortion, Equirectangular images are meant for spherical projection and will only map evenly on a sphere.

Edit; Kim beat me to it!

If I could select 2 solutions I’d select yours as well, thank you.
