Here is a Yafray rendering of an Erector set that I modeled for the Jan/Feb Indigo render competition. I am still tweaking the Indigo render, but liked the progress of the Yafray one.
I am planning on adding a little noise to the metal since it is overly reflective. The real one has a lot of little scratches on it.
im not sure of dis … but im tinkin dat wheel is plastic rite ? … shldnt it b a little more shiny … im not an expert on materials … so dats just my opinion
Here is a new render. I noticed that the wheels not only were not as shiny as they should have been, but they were not as orange as they should have been either.
if I had to pick on anything I would suggest maybe bumping the specularity up on the rubber part of the wheels little, or some light scratches and crevices to make it look more like rubber. but other than that it looks great.
I don’t have any icons on my desktop, so no worries there.
My current resolution is 1024 x 768, but it would be nice if you could go higher, as I’ll be getting a new computer for college. 1280 x 1024?
I’m going to add some fixes to the rubber. When I rendered it in Low GI settings, the rubber looked more realistic. When I rendered it on Best quality, it smoothed out too much.
Once that is fixed, I’ll post a 1280 x 1028 render. Should be a day or two.
No. In the version of Indigo that I used, it doesn’t recognize Blenders Autosmooth feature. I therefore have to go and tag each face as whether to be smooth or solid. Not hard, but I was going to do that tonight. I did some tests today at lunch and looked like it would work.
