i hope you liked it.

ooo, nice!

I did a copy of the fish one called DEPTH which is on the opposite page to yours in the original book Escher published,
i have animated a loop GIF of it and also this icon is a copy of his SPIRALS.

That is one of my favorite Escher pieces; and a good job re-creating it. So simple yet you can stare at it for a while. My version that I did shortly after seeing that picture. I wasn’t going for a straight copy, just the same idea. I was going to use it for a web header, but the company that I was making it for didn’t like it, they wanted boring people instead of fun cubes

stephen2002: nice picture. the only comment i have is that your camera is outside your model. it should be inside the model.

I think you should set your camera’s ortho button. This will give you an orthographic view where all the lines run in parallel just like the original.

It’ll take a bit of tweaking after the change, but you should get an image that is more true to the original.

stephen2002: WOW, that is awesome! :o
New wallpaper for me!

does that mean that mine is in the bin now?

(i dont mind %| )

This latest image, with the “cartoon style” white edge lines and still-better lighting, is definitely starting to look good.

Observe, however, how Eischer used the light in the original reference drawing. He had it coming from the right hand edge of the frame, distinctly. He also had it coming from several different depths, with different qualities of light in each.

You have the geometry. Now work the light.

sorry, i have another project now. but if i have time i can look at it

you should try a halo spot, I think that would make it look better.
